"Mompreneurs" enter baby keepsake and products market
Across the country, enterprising moms are starting up their own businesses that offer baby keepsake items, products and services, according to a report in Reuters.
Sharon Hadary, executive director of the Center for Women's Business, told the news provider that "more and more" women who have experience in professional and managerial careers are applying this knowledge to the baby and pregnancy market once they have a child of their own.
"They're looking for products they need as a mother and they don't see them, so they go out and invent," she explained.
It could be argued that new moms are best-placed to address any gap in the market - be it a unique baby album, contemporary baby keepsake or fashionable infant clothing.
According to research published on the Moms2Moms Marketing Conference website, 60 percent of mothers think that marketers ignore their needs, while 73 percent say advertisers do not understand their situation.
