A swinging wedding for one bride and groom
When wedding planning, many couples may seek to incorporate elements both old and new, traditional and contemporary.
One Iowa couple told the Duluth News Tribune how they decided to give their nuptials a 1940s swing dancing theme, then danced the night away.
Adam Roberts and Amber Dallager requested that guests dress as if they were living in the 1920s, 30s, or 40s - and made sure the entertainment matched the theme by hiring a six-piece band to perform.
"Since we both like history, we thought an era-based wedding would be a great fit. We thought it would be fun to make our reception look like a 1940s-style swing dancing club," Dallager told the news provider.
The bride and groom added an old-fashioned touch to their pre-wedding activities by taking a ride in an old-fashioned car.
Meanwhile, a funky old photo booth added some additional fun to the reception and allowed guests to create their own wedding photography.
Couples planning a wedding with a big band or swing dancing theme may want to consider including music by some legends of the era, such as Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman and Count Basie.
