Baby showers 'becoming more sophisticated'
Designing party ideas for a baby shower is becoming more complicated than wedding planning, it has been revealed.
The LA Times reported that high-profile celebrity baby showers are getting more extravagant by the day.
Michelle Black of Lehr & Black told the newspaper that mothers-to-be are steering away from the typical pink or blue invites and opting for crystals, pop-ups and glitter.
Celebrity party planner Mindy Weiss commented: "Baby showers are becoming as sophisticated as weddings. They're not homespun and low-key anymore."
She added that gifts such as a baby album or a baby keepsake for the expectant mother are also becoming more elaborate.
"Right now, it's a big deal to open gifts and pass them around and ooh and ah," she said.
According to Ms Weiss, a baby shower can last an average of three hours, which includes opening presents, eating and playing games.
Jamie Lynn Spears celebrated her second baby shower this weekend at her fiance's parent's home in Liberty, Mississippi.
