Hosting a nursery rhyme baby shower

A nursery rhyme-themed baby shower is a classically popular idea - after all, who doesn't love to revisit the beloved verses of their childhood?

The key to making this type of gathering a success is to incorporate the rhymes in a unique way during your party planning.

First, think of some of the most famous verses, such as Little Bo Peep, Old Mother Hubbard, Mary Had a Little Lamb, and Jack and Jill.

You can find images that represent these rhymes on the internet and print them out for decorations, as well as using them on the invitations.

Also consider some subtle ways to evoke the theme, such as making devilled eggs (Humpty Dumpty) and pie (Jack Horner) or hanging plastic dishes and spoons (Hey Diddle Diddle) from the ceiling.

You may even want to ask guests to choose their gift based on a particular rhyme. Ideas include a star-shaped nightlight (Twinkle Twinkle Little Star), a wool sweater (Baa Baa Black Sheep) or shoes (Old Mother Hubbard.)

At the end, you can create photo albums based around pictures of the gifts, accompanied by the rhyme that inspired them.
