Man showers grow in popularity

One way to get men involved in wedding planning is to organise a man shower, it has been reported.

The Canadian Press claimed that as brides-to-be enjoy their traditional bridal showers, there is a growing emergence of male pre-wedding parties.

"It does go hand in hand with guys being more involved in planning the wedding," said Nick Dekker, who dubs the celebrations "man gatherings". "It's a way to keep them involved."

Man showers are a great way for grooms to converse over wedding ideas with their guy friends, said Abby Buford, spokeswoman for Lowe's Home Improvement stores.

They can also request shower gifts such as tools and other necessities needed to start a home, she added.

However, Nick told the source that men do not usually bother with gift wrap and instead, bring the present in the bag it came in.

Games at previous man showers have included a nail pounding contest and featured old licence plates as food trays, the news agency reported.

According to the Wedding Report, the average groom in 2008 is 28 years old.ADNFCR-1501-ID-18670659-ADNFCR
