Photo albums and scrapbooks 'make great wedding gifts'
When looking for a wedding gift, personalized items such as photo albums full of pictures that have special significance can make quite an impression, it has been suggested.
Writing on MarketWatch, money tips writer Marshall Loeb says that "homemade and heartfelt gifts can have a big impact at little cost".
He advises that people who are looking to make their own presents should look to the bride or groom's hobbies or favorite things for an idea.
Scrapbooks about shared holidays or photo albums filled with memories are two ideas Mr Loeb suggests, adding that a DVD album is an alternative for those who do not like making things with their hands.
However, he also admits that some guests may not feel comfortable making a gift for a couple they do not know very well.
In that case, "the registry is your best bet", Mr Loeb states, explaining that in this way "you know you're going to get them something they really want".
Wedding guests spent an average of $106 per gift in 2007, according to the Wedding Report.
