Photo albums take grads on a sentimental journey
Graduation party planning requires a tone that balances the excitement of future plans with memorable achievements of the past.
Speaking to the Erie Times-News, party planning expert Lisa Kothari suggests that creating a collage of images from different periods in the graduate's life is one way that families can help celebrate this milestone.
Another idea she offers is to set up a slide show from a CD that is continually running in the background or provide a stack of photo albums for guests to peruse.
However, Ms Kothari warns against creating too many sentimental activities for attendees to take part in, as a casual atmosphere will encourage mingling and conversation.
"People really go to graduation parties just to connect, present gifts and have a piece of cake," she says.
Last year, the National Retail Federation's forecast predicted that Americans would spend about $4.5 billion collectively on graduation presents.
