Planning a baby shower, part 3: Games
Party games are an essential component of any baby shower. Some of the best take a lighthearted approach to pregnancy and involve both the mom-to-be and her guests.
It's easy to create a lovely baby keepsake and organize a fun game. Have each guest bring a photograph of themselves as a baby, and give each photo a number. Put the photographs in a baby album for mom to keep, and then hand out numbered sheets. Each guest has to guess the corresponding photographs and the winner receives a small gift.
Baby bingo is always popular. Hand out bingo sheets with squares marked "baby pacifier" or "stroller" and so on. As mom unwraps her gifts, guests cross off items. The first to call "bingo" receives a small prize.
For a longer game involving large groups, consider "baby trivia" - like pub trivia but focusing on parenting myths, pregnancy issues and famous baby "firsts." Include a celebrity photo round where guests have to match photographs with the famous couple. Winners could receive small gifts, such as potted plants, or chocolates. The losing team should try to donate one babysitting evening for each team member.
