Relive the 70s with a disco party
If you love costume parties, a 70s-themed disco shindig could be right up your alley. Imagine filling the photo albums with pictures of your friends dressed in bell-bottoms, roller skates and glitter.
Use the movie Saturday Night Fever as inspiration and see if you can get your hands on a disco ball to hang from your ceiling. Lava lamps, strobe lights, blacklights and beaded curtains can also help set the mood.
Of course, the soundtrack is key. Download some great dance-able tunes from the past, including those made famous Blondie, the Bee Gees, Abba, and Gloria Gaynor.
Play a disco-themed movie such as Stayin' Alive on silent in the background and encourage guests to copy the stars' best moves. Give our prizes for Best Outfit, Best Dancer and Best Lip-Sync Rendition of a Disco Song.
Fondue is great way to re-create one of the food crazes of the 70s that also encouraged people to mingle. Consider having two fondue pots - one filled with cheese and the other with chocolate.
