“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift; that's why it's called the present.” “What is THAT doing in there?” I thought. “Has he lost his ever-loving mind?” Two years later, I got it. What John was telling us was that we should appreciate each moment that we're “gifted” because it's the only time we have choices. What happened in the past can't be changed nor can the future predicted. It's a shame to waste today trying to do either, and this applies to running a business or living one's life. Our True Story this month demonstrates how making conscious choices in the present moment, even in difficult times, can restore the “gift” of today, and impact what will become the past, forever. Definitely a lesson worth learning. Warmest Regards,
Thirty Questions for Thirty Years For the past several years my boyfriend has battled depression. During bouts with the disease, he has pushed away many of us with misplaced anger. It has been very hard to watch him go through this and I often felt helpless to do anything…until I had what turned out to be a BRILLIANT idea! Bill’s 30th birthday was last month and I organized a surprise party and a pseudo intervention – using one of your albums! I invited his friends and family; and even the ones who had been on the receiving end of his tirades agreed to come, once they understood what we were trying to do. On each page of the Adesso Album I wrote a question designed to prompt a heart-centered response from both the guest who would answer it, and at the same time, engage Bill. Each guest picked a question, like “Why is Bill important in your life?”, wrote a supportive response and put their picture in the page. There was a visible shift in everyone as this process went on, until at last, Bill realized that these people were not the problem, they were the solution. That night marked the beginning of his journey back, and the Adesso Album reminds him of where he’s headed, every day. - Linda, NY |
